The Family Business
Scott's dad, John, came to Lubbock in 1942 to attend Texas Tech University. He needed a pair of dress shoes. He and Scott's grandmother went into Durham Burdines, and John remembered the moment he fell in love with the menswear business. Upon graduating from Texas Tech University, John, opened MALOUF'S.
Scott's Retail Journey
Scott started in the store at about age 12, and later while at the University of Texas, worked full time at a menswear store. Scott moved back to Lubbock in 1976 and worked full time at the family store. Within a few years, Scott initiated and built the womenswear and jewelry business. Scott worked at the family store until 2009.
DREST 2009
Scott and his wife, Karen, started DREST by Scott Malouf in October of 2009, and from the moment they opened the doors, happiness rushed in. Scott had a location in The Village shopping center, Kingsgate shopping center and our current location at 10305 Quaker Ave. in Lubbock, Texas.
Marlowe Malouf Lawson
One of the highlights of Scotts journey was having Scott and Karen's daughter, Marlowe, join them in 2012. She, too, had her retail journey being a buyer in New York. Marlowe joined Scott in Lubbock in 2012. Marlowe is the womenswear and jewelry buyer!
Santa Fe 2013
While in Italy on a menswear trip in June of 2013, Scott's phone started lighting up with news that Packard's, an iconic Santa Fe retailer of over 70 years, was retiring. These calls were from designers with whom their stores had in common. The stars truly aligned, and out of 40 proposals for the location, Scott and Karen's was accepted! Malouf on the Plaza, a 3 part act of jewelry, weavings and fashion, opened later that year
